About Baxter
Baxter is an American Bulldog with a gentle soul and a loyal heart. He's an easy-going companion who enjoys affection but is just as happy to relax on his own. Baxter is food-motivated, and knows his basic cues like sit, stay, and high five. He's well-mannered around food and takes treats gently.
Baxter is able to meet new dogs calmly but displays a typical bulldog play style-rough and tumble, boisterous, and physical-which may be too much for most dogs, so he will need to go to a home with no other dogs while he learns how to socialise. He walks well on a harness, and enjoys enrichment activities like tug and ball play. While he can be wary around new people, especially men, he settles with time and reassurance. Sudden noises and changes in routine can make him nervous, and he's currently being weaned off medication used to help manage his anxiety in the shelter.
Baxter is looking for a stable, calm home where he can build a strong bond and thrive with someone who'll give him the time and support he needs to adjust and settle in. Due to his nervousness, he will be best suited to a quiet adult or teenage only home with low foot traffic.
