About Chomp
Chomp is a big, goofy young boy full of character and charm, with lots still to learn as he grows. He can be a little worried in new environments and around unfamiliar sounds, so he will need a calm, patient home with someone available for the first few days to help him settle in and build confidence slowly. Once comfortable, Chomp thrives being part of the family and would love to live indoors, joining daily activities and then happily lazing nearby, often choosing the coolest tile for a nap. He may benefit from crate training to give him a safe space when feeling overwhelmed. Chomp is a curious boy who loves to sniff, so scent games and enrichment activities will help keep his mind stimulated. As a large, boisterous youngster, he does not always realise his size and can become excitable, sometimes jumping up or bumping into people, so he will need a dedicated owner committed to continuing his training and reinforcing good manners such as keeping four paws on the ground. He absolutely loves his toys and will do best with a variety on rotation, along with guidance on sharing and trade-out skills such as “give” and “leave.” Chomp would be best suited to a home with older children who have experience with big, energetic dogs and can be involved in his training, as he may become overwhelmed in busy or fast-paced households. He will need to meet any potential canine companions and may prefer to be the only dog, but if matched, a calm, social, and tolerant female with a gentle play style would suit him best, with a proper offsite introduction. On walks, he has shown he can be calm and responsive, especially with positive reinforcement, and while he may start off a bit unsure, he settles nicely, making him a lovely companion for a patient family willing to help him reach his full potential.
