About Dean
Meow there! My name is Dean and aren't I just the most handsome cat ever?! I came to the RSPCA as a surrender and now I am here waiting to find a new home that will love me for the rest of my life. I am a pretty awesome cat, if I do say so myself. I absolutely LOVE to play, I could play all day everyday running and chasing toys. When I'm not play I really enjoy spending time with the staff getting cuddles, pats and chin scratches.
I've been told that I am a special CAT-CHOO kitty. This means that I've had and been treated for Cat-Flu while in care at RSPCA. It is very similar to what a cold looks like in humans but it is a cat only strain, so you don't have to worry about me making you sick.. While I have recovered, I will always have it in my system and under times of stress I can show symptoms of it again. If I go home with other felines it would be best to keep us separated for the first two weeks so I don't risk spreading it to them. If in the future you notice me coming down with the "flu" (sneezing, watery eyes, discharge) then it would be best to take me to the vet for a check up. I will need to be kept an indoor only cat for the rest of my life.
Before I came to the RSPCA I was in a home which had a cat that tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). This is a cat only disease which is very similar to HIV. Even cats which are positive to FIV can live enjoy a good quality of life for a long time before the disease progresses. They are more vulnerable to other diseases and as such should be kept indoor only to protect them from catching illnesses or from spreading FIV, which is not very easily spread. It is generally passed though deep bites. I have tested negative for FIV at the moment but it can take up to 6 months for it to show up in my system. The vets recommend having me re-tested in 6 months to confirm I am definitely negative, however there were no signs that I was fighting with the cat I used to live with so the risk of me having FIV is low. The staff can discuss this more with you if you have more questions.
During my time with RSPCA I've been fed this yummy food called Royal Canin Indoor Cat, this has given me all the yummy nutrients that our body needs to grow big and strong! If you wish to adopt me, I please ask that you consider keeping me on this diet and as an added BONUS you get 20% off on your first bag! If you think I'd be the puuurfect cat for you, come to the shelter and meet me today! Love Dean xXx
