About Carlos

Hi, I’m Carlos — a big-hearted, big-bodied Great Dane mix on the lookout for a forever home! I’ve been in care for a little while now, and while the shelter staff are lovely, I’m dreaming of a comfy couch, a backyard to stretch out in, and a family who understands the quirks and joys of a large breed like me. I’m what they call a “gentle giant” — affectionate, loyal, and always up for a cuddle (if you’ve got the space!).

Because I’m a big boy with a playful streak, I do best with children over 12 who can handle my enthusiasm — sometimes I forget just how large I am because I am a big goofball! Don't get me wrong though, I love a good sleep on the couch or outside in the sun! I will be honest, I do have a tendency to want to chase small animals — they kind of look like toys and it excites me, can’t blame me though, right?

That’s why I need to be the only pet in the home. I much prefer having my space all to myself, and I’d be happiest in a calm environment without other dogs, cats, or pocket pets. I’m a bit selective with the dogs I get along with, so dog parks aren’t really my thing — I’d rather spend time with my humans doing things we both enjoy.

I thrive with people who have large breed experience and understand the importance of consistent training and routine. I’m very food motivated (treats, anyone?), which makes me super responsive when learning new things. I’d be happiest in a home where I have both indoor and outdoor access — I enjoy being part of the family inside, but also love a good sunbake or zoomie session in the yard.
