About Bernie

Meet Bernie!Bernie is an 8-year-old Malinois x German Shepherd with a big heart and an even bigger love for people. Once he gets to know you, he's all about leaning in for pats, spending time with his favourite humans, and showing off his food-motivated enthusiasm. He already knows some basic skills and settles nicely when he feels safe and comfortable in his environment.Bernie is looking for an adult or teen-only home with experienced dog owners who understand the needs of intelligent working breeds. Previous experience with German Shepherds, Malinois, or similar breeds would be highly regarded. His new family will need to provide ongoing training, structure, and guidance to help him continue building confidence and feeling secure.Bernie would prefer to be the only pet in the home, as he can be unsure around other animals and is happiest when he doesn't have to share his space. His ideal home will offer both indoor and outdoor access, including a secure yard where he can safely enjoy time outside and stretch his legs. All household members will need to meet Bernie before adoption to ensure it's the right match for everyone. If you're looking for a loyal companion and have the experience, patience, and understanding to help him thrive, Bernie could be the perfect addition to your family. He has so much love to give and is ready to find a home where he can truly belong.
