About Wallis
Meow Meow! My name is Wallis and I am a wonderful cat who is now looking for my new fuurever home! When I arrived at the RSPCA I was a quiet, timid and anxious kitty, it takes me some time to warm up towards new people, but once I get to know you and trust you, I am an absolute delight! I don't enjoy being picked up and handled, I prefer calm and quiet companionship in a household with children 12+ as I am quite shy. I will thrive in a tranquil environment and would appreciate a patient and understanding family willing to give me the time a space I need in order to feel safe and cherished.
I've been told that I am a special CAT-CHOO kitty. This means that I've had and been treated for Cat-Flu while in care at RSPCA. It is similar to what a cold looks like in humans. While I have recovered, I will always have it in my system and under times of stress I can show symptoms of it again. If I go home with other felines it would be best to keep us separated for the first two weeks so I don't risk spreading it to them. If in the future you notice me coming down with the "flu" (sneezing, watery eyes, discharge) then it would be best to take me to the vet for a check up. I will need to be kept an indoor only cat for the rest of my life. Something important to know about me is that I have tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). This is a cat only disease which is very similar to HIV. Cats like me which are positive to FIV can live enjoy a good quality of life for a long time before the disease progresses. I am more vulnerable to other diseases and as such should be kept indoor only to protect me from catching illnesses or from spreading FIV to other cats. FIV is not easily spread and the main way cats catch it is from bites from infected cats. It would be best if I only go to a home with another FIV positive cat and it is recommended that you take introductions very slowly and carefully to ensure we get along and do not fight.
I was treated for dental disease, with 14 teeth extractions and a scale and polish performed before I was ready for adoption. It would be best if you get my teeth checked once a year by vets to see how I am going with keeping my teeth healthy and clean. During my time with RSPCA I've been fed Royal Canin Indoor Cat, this has given me all the yummy nutrients that our body needs to grow big and strong! If you wish to adopt me, I ask that you consider keeping me on this diet and as an added BONUS you get 20% off on your first bag! If you think I'd be the puuurfect cat for you, come to the shelter and meet me today! Love Wallis xXx
