About Pudge

Hi there, I’m Pudge! I may look like a big, wrinkly teddy bear, but underneath my serious face is a heart that just wants to love and be loved. I’m a 2-year-old Dogue de Bordeaux, a breed known for our loyalty, strength, and deep bonds with our humans. The Dogue de Bordeaux is one of the oldest French breeds, dating back over 600 years! Historically, they were used as guardians, hunters, and even war dogs. Despite their strong and muscular build, they are known for being deeply affectionate with their family and forming incredibly strong bonds with their humans.

I came into care through no fault of my own, and while I’ve had a rough start, I’m ready to find my forever home. I’m a gentle soul at heart, but new people and situations can make me a little shy. That’s why I’m looking for an experienced owner—someone who understands my breed and will give me the time, patience, and love I need to truly come out of my shell. I’d love a quiet home with adults or older, confident kids (12+) who know how to respect a dog’s space. A secure, 6-foot colourbond fence is a must for me, as I like having my own yard to relax in—I’m not suited to apartment life. I prefer spending time outside, so a home where I can enjoy the fresh air is ideal.

One important thing to know about me—I’m not suited to a home with small animals like cats, rabbits, birds, or pocket pets. I have a high prey drive and need a home where I won’t be tempted by little critters.
