About Silver
Hello, my name is Silver, and I’m a big boy with a big heart!
I’m a Douge De Bordeaux, which means I’m an extra large breed, and that comes with some special considerations. I can be a bit of a puller on the lead, given my size, so it’s important that my new family has experience handling large dogs like me. If you’re not used to managing a dog of my size, I might be a little much for you, so having experience with big dogs is a must.
I’d be happiest as the only dog in the household. I prefer to have all the attention to myself, so if you already have a dog, I’m probably not the best fit for you. I love my humans, but I don’t want to share them with other furry friends. I also enjoy walks and exercise, but it’s best for me to be walked in quieter areas where I can focus on my walk and not be distracted by other dogs or too much hustle and bustle.
When it comes to children, I’m generally tolerant of handling and will choose to move away if I need space. While I’m not one to seek out attention from kids, I can tolerate them as long as they respect my space. I do tend to get a little excited at times, so it’s important for my new family to ensure that I’m comfortable with any children in the home and that they’re comfortable with me, too. A proper introduction and some time to settle in will make sure we’re all happy.
Being an extra-large dog as well as a brachycephalic breed, I need appropriate mental and physical stimulation to keep me happy and healthy. While I’m not hyperactive, I do enjoy slow, sniffy walks, along with mental enrichment to prevent boredom. Puzzle toys, basic training, and some fun activities will keep my mind sharp, while long walks, playtime, and maybe even a little swimming will help me burn off energy. If you’re looking for a laid-back, loyal companion, I’m your guy!
