About Bonito
Hi, I'm Bonito!
I’m a 3-year-old working breed mix, and I’m on the lookout for a loving family to call my own. I may be a little shy at first, but with patience and understanding, I’ll become your loyal companion. Here’s a little about me and what I need from my new home:
I’m not a fan of sudden movements, and sometimes I prefer to avoid situations that make me nervous. I’d be happiest in a calm household with older children who understand that I may not always want to be petted. If you respect my boundaries, I’ll feel safe and comfortable with you. Giving me breaks between pats will help me feel safe, and soon I'm sure to be coming up to you for pats!
I really enjoy spending time with people, and I can get a bit anxious when left alone. I’d love to be in a home where someone is around most of the day to engage with me and give me some mental stimulation. I’d benefit from activities like puzzle toys or training sessions that help me use my brain and settle in more easily.
I can be a bit nervous around new people, and I tend to keep my distance until I get to know them. I might shy away at first, but once I feel comfortable, I’m loyal and loving. It’s important that my new family understands how to properly introduce me to new people and provides me with a safe space where I can retreat if I need a break.
Mental Stimulation is My Thing: I’ve got an active mind, and I love engaging with my surroundings. I enjoy making good choices and figuring out puzzles. If you give me daily activities, like training or interactive toys, I’ll be a much happier and calmer dog. I’m not one to just chill by myself for long, so I’ll need someone who can keep me engaged.
What I Need from You:
A Calm and Predictable Environment: I do best when things are calm and predictable. I’m not a fan of being rushed or startled, so I’ll thrive in a peaceful, steady home where I know what to expect each day.
Positive Training: I’m a smart boy, and I respond well to positive reinforcement training. Gentle, consistent methods work best for me, and I’ll learn quickly when I’m rewarded for making good choices. I want to build trust with you, and training together will help us bond.
Patience and Respect: I may take some time to warm up to you, but once I trust you, I’ll be your loyal friend. I need a family that’s patient with me and respects my pace. With time, I’ll show you the loving side of me that I keep hidden while I’m adjusting to my new home.
If you think you can provide me with a calm, understanding, and engaging environment, I might just be the perfect companion for you. I’m ready to find a home where I can feel safe, loved, and part of the family. Could that be with you?
