About CJ
This active, playful young boy CJ is full of personality and always ready for his next adventure. He is a very smart dog who loves to learn and has even learned to jump hurdles, showing just how clever and capable he is. He can become easily excited at times and forget his manners, so he will do best with an owner committed to continuing his training, rewarding calm, relaxed behaviours and redirecting unwanted ones will help him thrive. He must be allowed indoors and included as part of the family, as he loves being around people and will make a wonderful, energetic companion for an active home. He enjoys self-play with his toys, so providing a variety will help keep him entertained, along with ongoing use of enrichment such as Kongs, snuffle boxes, egg cartons, and milk bottles to keep his busy mind stimulated. He loves to sniff and explore and can easily become distracted by his nose, so building a strong recall will be important. Being a busy, on-the-go boy, he will likely benefit from crate or station training to encourage calm downtime. He can jump quite high, so will need secure fencing of at least 6ft, as well as someone home more often than not to help him settle, as he has shown some signs of separation anxiety and may bark when left alone, he will need a patient approach to gradually adjust to time apart. He may suit a home with older, calm children, as he can be excitable and a little jumpy, and all children must meet him at the time of adoption. He is social and playful with other dogs, though his enthusiasm may be a bit much for some, so a meet and greet will be required to ensure a suitable match.
