About Sparkie
Introducing Sparkie!
Sparkie is a big, goofy boy with lots of personality who’s looking for a home where he can be part of the family and included indoors. He loves affection and will happily lean in for gentle pats from his people.
Sparkie can get quite excitable and sometimes forgets his size, leading to jumping up. He’ll need a committed owner who will continue his training with consistency across the whole family.
He is very food-motivated, already knows sit and down, and is learning new skills—making him a great candidate for ongoing training.
He enjoys playing with toys and loves to catch them mid-air, and with a bit more practice, he could master fetch. Sparkie will also benefit from daily food-based enrichment to keep his active mind engaged. He absolutely loves cardboard box enrichment, kongs and puzzle toys!
Sparkie can be a bit over enthusiastic about his walks and often becomes very strong on lead to investigate all the smells and see all the sights! It is highly recommended to walk Sparkie on a front-attach harness while continuing to build his loose-lead walking skills in low-distraction environments.
He has shown some reactivity and stress-related behaviours in the shelter, so he’ll benefit from a structured, calm home that helps him feel secure.
Sparkie is best suited to a home with teenage children who can be involved in his training. He will need to meet any resident dogs in the home prior to adoption and is best matched with a tolerant female dog.
